M. BrĂĽckner interview by Michel Scheijen / Musicophilia
EM News Poster: BruecknerAmbient - Date: Thu Mar 25, 2021 9:29 pm
Recently, Michel Scheijen conducted an interview with me for his wonderful blog "Musicophilia" and released it there today, under a rather suitable title!

Laughing Laughing Laughing

Michel was very patient with me talking at length about many topics, including the "basics" about my musical journey and inspirations (which some of You are maybe already familiar with) but also topics like P'Faun, my connection to the SynGate label, Klaustrophilia and album release overkill...

He picked some nice old photos too - like these of one of my early meetings with Olaf Lux, and with Gerd Wienekamp (of Rainbow Serpent) and Kilian Schloemp (of SynGate) at Winnies Schwingungen Garden Party in 2013...

Imaginary Landscape (HaDi Schmidt) Live Video
EM News Poster: BruecknerAmbient - Date: Mon Mar 22, 2021 11:02 pm
My good friend (and Bridge To Imla duo partner) HaDi Schmidt recently had the oportunity to have a concert (well, due to Covid alone in a small hall) filmed by a professional film crew - and WOW! - was he on form!

This is easily the most impressive performance I witnessed by HaDi yet (including any of our BTI concerts).

RIP Constance Dembi
EM News Poster: BruecknerAmbient - Date: Mon Mar 22, 2021 8:34 pm
The following was posted yesterday on Constance Dembi's Facebook page:

"Constance Demby (May 9, 1939 - March 20, 2021) multi-instrumentalist and composer.

Constance Demby, pioneering composer and musician, died peacefully on March 20 at the age of 81. Her 1986 album Novus Magnificat: Through the Stargate, is regularly listed among the most influential New Age and ambient albums of all time.

Blending classical, New Age and electronic music, Demby’s compositions have influenced many generations of composers. She performed at events with the Dalai Lama, Deepak Chopra, and Todd Rundgren, often in dramatic settings, such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, the Great Pyramid of Giza, and Stonehenge.

Demby performed on instruments of her own creation. Stemming from her early training as a sculptor, Demby’s most prominent innovation was the Sonic Steel Space Bass, made of sheet metal with tuned steel rods, played with mallets and a bow. The Space Bass emits a wide variety of sounds that resemble wind chimes, thunder, whale cries, and human voices.

Constance Demby was also proficient on the hammered dulcimer, tamboura, and keyboards. Her travels to India, Spain, and Portugal, experiences with sound healing, and a love of Gregorian chants influenced her unique musical style.

Stephen Hill, founder of Hearts of Space, said, “Constance Demby was gifted with an intuitive musical sense of sound and melody that moved people deeply. Beginning in experimental improvisation and contemplative acoustic music, she incorporated classical orchestration, symphonic composition, and the expanded sonic dimensions of electronic space into her music. Her 1986 "cosmic choral symphony" Novus Magnificat elevated the standards of scope and production in the early New Age genre and has become a timeless classic.

She recorded over a dozen albums, including the landmark Constance Demby at Alaron, Sacred Space Music, Set Free, Light of This World, S... (Read More)

Tangerine Dream 1970s photos
EM News Poster: stevepalmer - Date: Sat Mar 20, 2021 1:28 pm
Greetings to all TD fans!

I have been asked to write a book about Tangerine Dream in the 1970s, focusing on the albums they released in that decade. Needless to say, I'm very much looking forward to this!

Part of the deal is that the book has 8 pages of photographs. If anyone on this forum has photos they took of TD at gigs in that decade, please let me know.

You can contact me via Facebook, or leave a message here. At FB I am Stephen Palmer - Author and also Blue Lily Commission.

Many thanks!

M. BrĂĽckner live @ Nick's Virtual Garage
EM News Poster: BruecknerAmbient - Date: Mon Mar 15, 2021 11:10 pm
Last Saturday I played a 100 min. streaming performance as part of Nick's Virtual Garage concert series.

The first hour or so went quite nicely, I think (and people said).
After the break though some technical mayhem occured which took a while to tame, but the last two pieces turned out OK again...

Part 1

(music starts at about 3 min.)

Part 2

Enjoy - and don't miss to watch me crawling under the tabel... Laughing

wavewizzard – Out of Curiosity
New releases Poster: wmri - Date: Mon Mar 15, 2021 1:39 am

The magical long-awaited return of another EM musician Anatoliy Laptev from Nizhny Novgorod. Last album was 11 years ago. And what a return!

Before you are interesting and curious musical sketches, electronic sound pictures, fascinating stories on completely different topics. Here you will find stories about Man, about Love, about Artificial Intelligence and robots. There are mysterious themes with bright hope and mild sadness also. But of course, not only the stories themselves are interesting, but the details, the sound itself is interesting. Immerse in thick strokes of buzzing electronic bass and energetic beats. However, the album Out of Curiosity is not dance music. There is more calm reflection and light watercolors of airy melodies. Get carried away with the details, with the process, and immerse into the sound. It's magical! Get carried away!
