DESCRIPTION

On Lie Symmetry, Brian McWilliams (aka Aperus) creates an ambient work of highly saturated color and sound, blending resonant analog synths with warm textures and a compelling selection of field recordings. Here, McWilliams works as sonic sculptor - exploring the edges, pushing the sound as far as possible and shaping the music and artwork together into a nearly synesthetic singular vision. Defying easy categorization, the album moves between ambient, electronic, environmental and drone music to create a wide array of emotional tones. With all of its angles and contours, Lie Symmetry is sure to reward repeated listens and appeal to fans of various ambient styles.

From the liner notes:

I first heard the term Lie Symmetry on the radio segment "Finding Beautiful Symmetry Near Absolute Zero". There, physicist Alan Tennant described his study of transitions in the quantum states of deeply cooled cobalt ions - "when water goes from ice to liquid, there are transitions between these states. At the exact point where you change from one stat . . .

syndae - episode 434
Posted Fri May 18, 2018 8:00 pm by treibklang
EM News Back from a weekend family trip, I am up for a new edition of electronic music. And I hope you are, too. Quite some events coming up, so more pointers to where to go for fine live electronics on this show. If you are taking a trip or two, hopefully you have good weather on the way. I did not, and it's definitely no fun riding the highway with rain dropping your sight to about 50 metres. And if it does not work out, some of the events offer virtual tickets as well, so you can even go without going and "be there" even you cannot make it. Ok, I'm off for a longer weekend to catch up on sleep. But surely always listening to great music, like given to us on this editon by Saafi Brothers (The Quality of Being One Remixes Part 2), Code Indigo (Take the Money and Run), Ron Boots, Frank Dorittke & Harold van der Heijden (Derby!), Pyramid Peak (Anatomy), Ray Garrido (Spirare / Compilation).

New Deepspace album "Blue Worlds I" out now on ban
Posted Sun May 13, 2018 5:16 am by deepspace000
New releases Hi fellow ambient music lovers,

I have just released the 10th deepspace album "Blue Worlds I", two years after the previous release: "The Empty Atoms". It is available now on bandcamp, and will be on Spotify and iTunes and the like in a week or so.

Here's the link:
https://deepspace1.bandcamp.com/album/blue-worlds-i

Here's the spiel:

Following from 2016's "The Empty Atoms", the new deepspace album "Blue Worlds I" moves into glacial and minimal territory, evoking quiet and empty space, all tinged with the idea of blue-ness.

Here is a little bit of impressionistic prose about the album, should you want to read and listen, or simply read about it

From the outset of the 17 minute introductory pure dream of "Dark Dark Blue", a glacial pace is suggested, cautiously outlined by a solitary bass part. "Sky Elevator" is ambient muzak, a sound which appears in a few guises on this album- music playing on an unmanned deck of an isolated starship, with no ears to hear it. Here, we are in deep-spaces that are empty, clean and scientific: The blue sound of a vertical lift rising into the vagueness of a non-earth sky. Sinking into the Martini is an apt description of the guitars that colour the next piece: "Halcyon Flowering Seas"- this is all about submerging and disappearing into dreams and unrecognised beautiful worlds, real or unreal. "Fields of White Grass" moves in sepia, flying in half-time over un-natural fields of white grass that blind as they move slowly in the wind. "A Guess of Blue" borrows and transfigures a phrase from J.R.R Tolkien to evoke the fractal pastel beauty of the disappearing horizon. "City of the Blue Electron" imagines flying over a vast blue city. "Sublunary" is a beautiful word that suggests we live as animals under the moon. The piece is arctic in colour, and imagines the view down from the moon. "Walking Along Be . . .
