Dear friends - now it's official:

"The Radiant Sea" - debut album by Bridge To Imla (Hans-Dieter Schmidt and myself) - will be released in early December at the excellent Dutch dark ambient label Winter-Light, which we are VERY happy about.

AND we are also very happy that we could win Robert Rich for the mastering! Mr. Green

Below, read Winter Light's full announcement and description:

Up and coming releases on the Winter-Light label.

Bridge To Imla - The Radiant Sea (WIN 013)

Release date 01.12.2017.

Winter-Light is extremely happy to welcome the duo 'Bridge To Imla' to our label, for their first full length album ‘The Radiant Sea’.

Bridge To Imla is the duo of Hans-Dieter Schmidt and Michael Brückner, created in 2017 to distinguish their particular style of cinematic ambient from their respective solo projects. Hans-Dieter and Michael initially met at ambient group improvisations by the Frankfurt based EK-Lounge community around 2010, and had already collaborated previously on several occasions.

The origins of the album go back to August 2013, when Michael Brückner produced a dark ambient track called "All The Weight Of The Sun" for a compilation that dealt with the (then recent) nuclear disaster in Fukushima, Japan. Whilst working on that track, Michael created hours of different soundscapes, most of which remained unused. Later that same year, Hans-Dieter and Michael started to make plans for recording an album together, and those unused soundscapes then formed the raw material for what finally became "The Radiant Sea". Expanding on the original theme of ecological concern, the album is both a contemplation about the current pollution of the Pacific ocean - not only caused by the Fukushima disaster, but by human influence in general - and is also a praise of the beauty of our planet's biggest ocean...

The album is a rich woven tapestry of dark ambient soundscapes and deep electronics mixed with more traditional instruments. It will pull you across the vast stretches of the mighty Pacific Ocean, dragging you down to it's murky depths and across it's vast plains before depositing you in to the deep trenches and ridges that lurk there. Polluted by radiation and man's indifference to nature, 'The Radiant Sea' continues in its struggle to restore the balance and maintain its beauty and dignity.

When it came to the question of who should master the album,’Bridge To Imla’ had already set their sights high and had just one person in mind; the ambient composer and mastering engineer Robert Rich. With over four decades of musical experience and knowledge to bring to the studio, Robert has applied his ears and talents to “The Radiant Sea’ and finely tuned and polished the tracks to bring out the best ambient feel and experience for the listener. We are extremely happy with the final results, as of course, are ‘Bridge To Imla’. We would like to say a big thank you to Robert, for doing such wonderful work. A true “master” craftsman.

Thank You very much! Smile

In case You have not seen my earlier post about the project as such, we have a page at Soundcloud to introduce ourselves.

NO tracks from the actual album here at the moment, though, as we'll leave it up to Winter-Light to create a preview video.

Most of the tracks are actually more recent than the album, which was already finished last year and mastered in January. They are (usually) quite in vein of the album, though...

He-he... Laughing Well, this indeed makes it a very special album for ourselves, too.

UPDATE:

Meanhwile, we received the official announcement of the release by Winter-Light - date of release will be

December 1st.

(...that's one week later than originally anticipated, due to a delay in the pressing plant)

The cover (designed by the label's graphical designers) has also been revealed by now:

Also, there have a few further tracks added to our SoundCloud presence recently - still nothing from the actual album (we are still waiting for Winter-Light to post the promo video which they are working on), but hopefully nice music, anyway.

Thank You, Mike.

And yes, basically it does.

However I should maybe add that since the tracks on Soundcloud (which were recorded after the album) are shorter tracks, they probably emphasise our melodic side, while "The Radiant Sea" is one long composition, or suite, with a lot of room for soundscapes and ambient moods - so the ingredients are the same, but the balance of them is a tad different.

But I guess it turned out very nice, in the first place due to Hans-Dieter's immense talent which never ceases to amaze me.

It will be a solid, massive, industrially pressed, *R*E*A*L* CD. Mr. Green

Nice album artwork , looking forward to checking this out.

That Winter Light label looks very interesting. I have listened to the new Seetyca release (excellent!) and will be getting that also. Will suss out the rest of that labels output.

Yeah, they're quite cool!

Just today, Winter-Light also revealed their official trailer for the album, and I'm happy to share that here now - the first (few) minutes of the album anyone gets to hear - enjoy!

Thanks again - we will! Mr. Green

Here's another little thing to announce in this context:

Hans-Dieter Schmidt and (if all goes well) also myself - together with EM musician Ralph Baumgartl - will be guests tomorrow (November 16) at a German radio show called "Homebase" with host Jürgen Klumpe in Frankfurt tomorrow, 17:00 - 18:00 h German time. The show features local musicians, and we have a chance to present "The Radiant Sea" there.

The radio station airs both terrestial (locally) as well as via internet stream. Obviously, it will be in German... Wink

In late January, we also will do a concert together with Ralph Baumgartl (a "Saturday night double feature Wink ) where we are going to play material from our debut release on Winter Light. For this event there will be a special announcement / invitation later... Smile
