Here an other one.

Both have had a great influence on me. Jarre with his Oxygene and Equinox and Vangelis with China and Opera Sauvage. But I must say that China is an absolute favorite.

With such a question I am so very much in a quandary *

Why not just enjoy the best of both worlds?

Jarre is a good mega-project leader.

Vangelis is the quintessence of composing, playing and arranging in real time.

Vangelis is a real genius.
Jarre is a visonnary.

oh that's a difficult one for me,
as Jarre & Vangelis were both kind of my entry level into electronic music
when I was a teenager, along with Kraftwerk.

I still remember how I felt back when I was 12 years old
and heard my first Jarre album Equinoxe on vinyl for the first time... mind blowing... Shocked

With Vangelis it was Albedo 0.39,
again on vinyl when I was about 13.

Nope, I'm afraid I can't call it between these two,
and I still buy anything new that either of them release,
and that's over 30 years since I first heard them both...

So it has to be a draw IMHO Wink

Jarre. I've always struggled with Vangelis.

I can't, I refuse to choose. To me, they are both geniuses of electronic music, very different but equally wonderful.

Oh, my... Laughing

For sure (again) I love both.

However, I think that Vangelis had been more consistent throughout his career, and while my favorite albums of both are just on the same olympic level, the masterpieces count for Vangelis is higher... Wink

Vangelis has held up better, but only slightly... I could never stand his neo-classical, pseudo-orchestral fluff...

After "Les Concerts..." Jarre always managed successfully to make me cringe.

Both too sugary for me... Jarre made a very successful combination of electronic music and "french populaire" with O and E, Big V scored a great movie with amazing results, but all in all both usually deal with something which i am not a great fan of...as far their other output is concerned.

to be honest... Jarre's Oxygene and Equinoxe are better than everything that Vangelis has made, but Vangelis has more good albums than Jarre... so I choose not to choose...

That's a tough one. 20 years ago I would have said Jarre, but I think my vote goes to Vangelis now. Jarre is rather ridiculous at times, although I loved his collaboration with TD, and even with Hans Zimmer and Pet Shop Boys. A pity JMJ and V never collaborated.

"Rene's Choice".....it's like being asked to choose between air and food... (or Oxygene and Soil Festivities)
