I am wondering how EM-Portal is going to comply with GDPR laws and regulations as are imposed from 25th May 2018 onwards?

I see ONE (or maybe 2) big problems;

A - The personal profile cannot be changed or edited at all by it's user

B - The profile cannot easily be requested to be deleted by it's user

… due to the HTTP 500 error within this portal, for some time now.

Are there any workarounds for this? OR

Will there be solutions in the near future?

If there are any other possible issues I might have missed.... Please add them in a reply to this post!

First of all, EMPortal is not an organization. Neither do we store any personal data other than a loginname (that you choose yourself, and like in your case is not really "personal"), and password.

However, thanks for reminding us. Do you want us to close the site? It would be a pity, but is fine with me.

If you want to change or delete your profile, that's possible, although with a workaround. That has been described on the site many times.

Finally, if you want to pay for it, I can take a week off from work and convert the site to something better and more GDPR compliant. If that should be needed to start with.

I'm not sure how others feel,
but personally I'm utterly fed up with the endless flow of e-mails about GDPR
that have been landing in my inbox over the last month.

I don't know what they mean, and really couldn't give a toss either way,
life's too short. Rolling Eyes

It'll likely be a tick box exercise by governments to create the illusion that our data is somehow now safe and uncompromised,
when in reality nothing will have changed.

This and the pop ups each time I visit a website reminding me that said website is compliant with GDPR
(as if I was actually worried about it beforehand). Confused

@ VC01... The EM Portal is absolutely perfect the way it is,
no pop ups, no unnecessary, annoying, and time wasting graphics or adverts,
just debate about music.... Wink

Don't change a single thing Sir. Very Happy

p.s. I think people forget, that the administrators on this forum aren't in it for the money.
Giving of their own time for free, they have nothing to gain,
other than creating a forum where we can debate music,
(which is something I personally don't have the skill/knowledge to do).

So a big thanks for this. Very Happy

That is entirely clear now. Could not find this info anywhere. But maybe it is, that I didn't look for it well enough Embarassed

Not at all! Did my post tend towards this? If so, my sincere apologies!
I do appreciate all the time consuming efforts made within this Portal.
All recent developments, concerning GDPR, just triggered renewed awareness of my own privacy especially online.
Everybody has his own priorities in this. For me; it just makes me wanna ask questions.
Only to get answers to my concerns (if there are any) No more, no less.

Good to know that there always is the possibility. I have tried it, but it didn't work. Maybe that was, because I had logged off before trying the workaround.
Today, changing my profile slightly, worked fine after a fresh start!
Sometimes you just need to be reminded of the right course of action.

As commented before, I am already grateful for all blood, sweat and tears put into this 'project'.

A clear one. But not relevant anymore as you can read in the above posts.

Once you're online, all privacy is an illusion.
