With so much music being released through so many channels, keeping up to date is getting harder and harder. And how to separate the wheat from the chaff in this flood of new music? What music is worth buying, and what can you safely skip?

My main sources for EM news and reviews are (in no particular order):
    - EMPortal Cool
    - the Groove weekly e-news newsletter
    - the Spheric newsletter
    - Sonic Immersion
    - Bandcamp artist/label mailings

And to a lesser extent (mostly because I don't have the time to listen to them on a regular basis):
    - the Hypnagogue podcast
    - the Headphone Commute podcast

And to an even lesser extent:
    - Synth&Sequences (headlines only, just to see if there are new albums released that I wasn't aware of, I don't read any of the reviews)

What are your sources?

Facebook in the first place (it's rather hard to escape information there… Wink ).
And I visit the Babyblaue Seiten prog rock review page on a nearly daily basis since about 15 years…

The EMPortal, too, of course - well, and Bandcamp, Discogs and what everyone else said, actually (and a bit obviously…).

But also newsletters from some of my favorite musicians which I have subscribed to, then some print magazines (especially Beat and Eclipsed).

Of course, for a period of some years, I also used to visit KS' homepage often, and later also KDM's blog. It's grown rather calm there lately, though...

Plus actually real life friends recommending stuff to me... Laughing

.

Should also have mentioned Bills Thought Radio program on a Saturday morning. Picked up a couple of albums as a result of listening to the show and checked many others out.

I also need to check out Dreamscape radio podcasts. In fact away to do that right now.

Edit ....Cant get Dreamscape to work on IOS, iPad or iphone, no matter what settings I fiddle with. Oh well will check it out on the PC later.

Try clicking the WinAmp icon. That worked for me on an iPad.

Yeah the Winamp icon commences play for about 30 Seconds then cuts out. Im still fiddling about with various settings on iphone and iPad but looking like PC will be the only fix. Glad to get my first newsletter from Groove though, should have signed up for that years ago.

Never experience any problems (on an iPad 2 .... with an older iOS off course)

You could try one of these addresses as an alternative:

http://dreamscape.groove.nl/dreamscape.mp3

OR http://dreamscaperadio.nl/dreamscape.mp3

the filename is always the same (to preserve server space, I presume) and these files can be downloaded (right click Save as)

Thanks for your links Solar Plexus. I will give them a try on my multiple ios devices Laughing

Listening to Dreamscape 499 on the PC just now. Great show and mix of EM. So glad this thread has reminded me about this. Cheers.

Another important source I rely on btw...

CDS Dundee emails. Very useful indeed and worthwhile signing up for . Great service also.

EMPortal/Empulsive or FB/YouTube.

Reviews are personal so I stopped reading them. And I seem to forget most of the time that there newsletters as well.

iO Pages is a Dutch magazine about progressive rock and all it's subgenres, also electronic music. We write reviews about electronic music albums in every issue (seven times per year).
Tomorrow, a new issue will come out. In the next issue there will be specials on Dutch electronic music and Tangerine Dream.
We write in Dutch. But for those who provide us with promo material, we send PDF's of the reviews and articles and provide translations in English.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your input, much appreciated!

Just to have an idea, could you give us some examples of EM related albums that were reviewed in IO Pages during the last 12 months?
