In order to make ordering multiple items (particularly when getting stuff by both ['ramp] and Parsick) more convenient and cost-effective, there now is the dedicated doombient.music webshop which features my own back catalogue as well as the one of ['ramp].

To celebrate the official opening (woo-hoo!), I have made two download albums available:

caverna larvarum by ['ramp]:

https://doombientmusic.bandcamp.com/album/caverna-larvarum

drones and shimmers by stephen parsick:

https://doombientmusic.bandcamp.com/album/drones-and-shimmers-2

Some years ago, these two recordings were available for a time when Iapetus and MusicZeit were collaborating. The albums disappeared after their co-operation had ceased. I remastered them and added a bonus track or two, when I found one.

Thanks for listening, sharing, and for your support, of course.

Stephen

Good news, thank You, Stephen!

After having been unavailable for quite some time, van dik hout zaagt men planken has just been released to celebrate the 20th anniversary of ['ramp]'s Huizen concert on 10th April 1999 at Theater 3-in-1 in Huizen/NL:

https://ramp1.bandcamp.com/album/van-dik-hout-zaagt-men-planken

This was the Alfa Centauri Festival performance, opening for Redshift and Tim Blake. Thanks to Eric Snelders for the invitation to play (even though I am still convinced that ['ramp] probably wasn't the right opener...).

The digital download contains not only the live recording of the entire concert straight from the mixing desk (manned by the late Cosmic Hoffmann) but also two previously unreleased recordings of the two rehearsals that had taken place prior to the show.

These bonus tracks amazed me quite a bit as they revealed how close the concert was to the rehearsals -- it had been seriously ambient right from the outset, and many of the ambient bits during the concert were not to be blamed on the main sequencer rig crashing half-way through. Some of the ideas used during the rehearsals would later materialise in more solid form during the Jodrell Bank performance in 2001.

Fond memories abound.

Enjoy, and thanks for listening,

Stephen.

Album title of the year!

I didn't have the time to listen to the music yet, but will definitely do so. It might be I attended that concert. If Tim Blake only payed Alfa Centauri once, I was at the festival that year. Those were the days...

I can't be blamed of churning out albums like Ford churns out cars, I suppose…

I have made a new digital download-only album available through ['ramp]'s and Parsick's Bandcamp site:

https://doombientmusic.bandcamp.com/album/schwartzschild-music-for-planetariums

It is the extended version of my 2007 limited-edition CDR of the same title, and it contains roughly 90 minutes of extremely slow, dark, and cinematic ambient music, recorded for, well, a planetarium show. I thought you might like it.

Enjoy, and thanks for your support,

Stephen

That's a fine album indeed; I still cherish the music of my (ripped) copy of the 2007 cd-r ....

As a little thank-you to all those who have supported me in these doom-laden times by buying downloads or physical releases (despite their own rather difficult situation at the moment, not to mention excessive shipping rates), I have made a new FLAC download album available, titled sommeil -- a concert for sleep:

https://doombientmusic.bandcamp.com/album/sommeil-a-concert-for-sleep-new-orleans-2009

It is a 90-minute piece of dark ambient soundscaping which is based entirely on processed ambient drones and field recordings. I recorded these bits back in 2009 when contributing material to a sleep concert performance, held by Tanner Menard at Antenna Gallery in New Orleans, Louisiana -- you will find more detailed info over at Bandcamp.

This download is supposed to be free of charge but, as always, you may donate if you wish. Thank you very much for your generosity.

Stay healthy and safe from harm,

Stephen

Hi all,

coinciding with Bandcamp waiving their revenue share on Friday 5th June, I released an album I had had on my desk for quite some time, the full-length version of permafrost:

https://doombientmusic.bandcamp.com/album/permafrost-the-sleep-concert-edition

I re-arranged the original recordings and assembled them in a slightly different order, compared to the CD that some of you might own. All tracks move seamlessly into each other, forming two long-form ambient tracks of roughly 200 minutes altogether.

You will get these two long tracks as bonus titles when purchasing the 40-minute teaser -- this will give you about four hours of glacial drones. Combined with sommeil, this should make for a nice little sleep concert in your living-room (well, maybe not a real sleep concert, more like an afternoon nap kind of concert…).

Please stay tuned for more long-form ambient music to follow in the next couple of months.

Thank you for your time and your ongoing support, take care, and stay healthy,

Stephen.
