In no particular order...
Ian Boddy - Axiom
Arcane - Omega
Brendan Pollard - Prologue
Daniel & Booth - Circle Of Phenomenon
Perge - Out, The Way We Came In
Alluste - Aludra
Wellenfeld - The Journey Of Voyager 1
Pyramid Peak - Symmetry
If I had to pick one I probably would lean towards Ian Boddy’s Axiom. What an album.

In alphabetic order:
Arcane - Omega
René van der Wouden - A Night at The Manor
Sayer - Terra
Schmoelling, Ader, Waters: S-A-W - Iconic
Sequentia Legenda - Beyond The Stars
And hearing the unedited and not overdubbed Tangerine Dream - The Dominion Concert in a good audio recording was a pleasure.

I always find it impossible to pick "the best" albums of a particular year, simply because there have been so many and again, I only have heard a small fracture of them. So how would I know...?
But also among the few that came to my awareness, there is so many excellent music that I find it hard to pick favourites (not only because the albums are on a high level of achievment, but also because they are different in style and approach and thus hard to compare...).
Anyway, here's an (probably incomplete) list of some of the electronica albums of 2020 which I enjoyed and which impressed me a lot - no particular order btw. just from the top of my head...
Robert Rich, Offering To The Morning Fog
Robert Rich, Neurogenesis
Dave Bessell, Reality Engine
Dave Bessell & Ishq, Inbetween
Gary Husband & Markus Reuter, Music Of Our Times
J. Peter Schwalm & Arve Henriksen, Neuzeit
Lisa Bella Donna, Odyssey
Thorsten Quaeschning & various guests, Behind Closed Doors...
...the whole series was great, very hard to pick a favourite performance.
Forrest Fang, Ancient Machines
Steve Roach, Tomorrow

No one has of course heard everything that has been released. This is more a list where you add the (good) albums you have heard in 2020.
But I changed the headline if that makes it easier!

Yes, maybe I stated the obvious...
I wrote that rather to just express my feelings about such lists in general, and actually didn't intend to critizise You.

Thank You. The original headline didn't keep me from doing just that (adding good albums) though.
I hope I didn't prevent anyone from posting his favourites...

No, you are not much of a "critiziser" (that is left to other people here).., so I didn't take it that way.

Indeed when I joined this party, the job of the critic was already occupied...

Hi all.
Plenty to choose from, but MediaMonkey tells me my favorite releases of the year were:
Martin Sturtzer - Farcaster
Pollard & Dolente - Live and More
The Soviet Space Dog Project - Pacific Gravity
Arjen Schat - Cosmic Reef
2020 will not go down as one of the world's best years, for obvious reasons, but at least there is so much lovely EM still being released, and for me, it's the Berlin School style that continues to thrive, albeit in its niche.
2020 also marked the time I finally divested myself of my entire CD collection, which had been languishing unplayed in boxes in the loft for years. In the car park of an Asda in Leicester, I said goodbye to a lifetime collection of physical music material. Much emotional wrangling went on beforehand, but it was all backed up in several locations, and realistically none of it would have been put in a CD player in my house ever again. Nice Mr. Law took it off my hands for a fair price and it does make me happy that he can gain from it, and collectors all over the world can also have a physical copy of the music they want. Gave me a sort of nice feeling inside that I was spreading some musical happiness around, and I got some moolah to go towards a new toy.
Seasons Greetings to the EMPortal community and a safe, happy, and healthy New Year to you all
