Since mostly mainstream stuff has been discussed in this section of the forum so far, I'd like to remind people about the music of Luke Slater (a more "underground" techno artist, but still one of the leading and better known exponents).

I can highly recommend his first two albums from the early 90's, The Four Cornered Room and My Yellow Wise Rug. I'm sure many who enjoy more traditional "EM" will appreciate the wonderful analogue sounds on these two albums. I know they were hard to come by for a while, but have been re-issued recently (at least I know The Four Cornered Room has been).

Those two records you mentioned by Luke use to be hard to find. Now.. I think they're not as so. Maybe they've been re-released since 2000ish.
Anyhow.. Luke's is definitely worth checking out if you're akin to liking more "underground" syles of techno/idm.

I'm about to stick his ALRIGHT ON TOP album on ebay. Bought it when it came out and it aged fast. Retro electro nonsense.

That album is nothing like the two gems I mentioned above.

I've checked out Wireless. Some quite nice moments in there, like the sheer in-your-face-ness of "Body Freefall, Electronic Inform" or the hypnotic sequencery in "Weave Your Web". How does that one compare to the older material?

Wireless is also quite different to his earlier releases - much more electro sounding, and missing a lot of the wonderful atmosphere that made the earlier above-mentioned albums so great.
