Kim Flint, the main force behind Loopers´ Delight and responsible for the developement of the Oberheim EDP, died ten days ago. Here´s what I´ve just come across on Analogue Heaven:

=0AOn June 19th, 2010, Kim Flint was hit by a car in a tragic bicycle
=0Aaccident. He died instantly.
=0A
=0AKim's energy and creativity has allowed thousands of musicians
=0Aacross the globe =E2=80=93 including myself =E2=80=93 to make music that
=0Aotherwise would have been impossible. His vision and skill helped
=0Acreate the Digital Echoplex Pro (EDP), an audio looping tool that has
=0Ahelped define what is possible with loop-based music. In my
=0Ainteractions with Kim over a 14 year period, answering my EDP questions
=0Aor working together to stimulate Gibson to restart EDP production, he
=0Aalways had a sense of humor and displayed a balanced outlook on life.
=0A
=0AKim also brought together a worldwide community of musicians through his
=0ALoopers-Delight.com website. This website has become an iconic resource
=0Afor all things to do with audio looping since its inception in 1996.=20
=0AThrough his efforts many have found within themselves music that might
=0Aotherwise not have been possible to play.
=0A
=0AKim's creation, the EDP, has been the inspiration for much of my more
=0Asuccessful music. Without him, it's fair to say I would not be the kind
=0Aof musician I am today. Please accept this email and video as part of my
=0Atribute to Kim. I've never self-created a video before, so once again
=0AKim is inspiring me to do new things.

=0A
=0AKim, we on this Earth will all miss you.
=0A
=0AThank you,

and rest in peace! Keep on looping!

Stephen

Holy Moly. This sucks. Kim was the one whom headed up LOOPERS DELIGHT. A forum on looping and music that employs looping technologies. I had a wonderful time getting to meet all kinds of people from all over the world through it. I wonder if anyone will be able to keep it going.

If it´s going like Kim intended it to, LD will have become a perpetuum mobile, kept alive by the community of loopers subscribed to it.

I´m quite sure most people here on this -- or similar forums -- won´t be able to fully appreciate Kim´s contribution to the world of music.

Yep. He helped with his knowledge of technology and his early adoption of new technologies. I think one of the first things I remember looking for on the net was information on Robert Fripp and that was where I was introduced to LD.
