Since this interview amazed long-time Roach fan, music reviewer Richard Gürtler (apparently he had not read it before) I guess it might be of interest to other Roach listeners as well.

Richard said:

"Wow, I just have been navigated to this article by kindred soul Gilles Bédard, merci beaucoup Monsieur!!! A must-read interview with Steve Roach from 1987 for Music Technology magazine (Sep 1987 issue, conducted by Bob O'Donnell), prior to his legendary trip to Australia together with David Stahl, who was working on his documentary project "Art Of The Dreamtime". Yes, these were the days and months when one of the most groundbreaking recordings in the history of electronic music was carved, "Dreamtime Return".

Gilles Bédard:
A look back to Steve's thought on Sound and technology on the eve of releasing Dreamtime Return. Great interview!"

Very very very interesting. Thanks a lot!

The end of this interview is great:

"Ultimately it's nothing that you really want to have to think about, it's just your instrument and the way you work."

Wise words.

Lots of good interviews on the muzines site, a 1986 Hans Zimmer interview among other things.

It's a pity they don't ask him if he ever met Patrick Swayze. Razz
