To be honnest I think it will be a great worktool for sounddesign.
If you know what an Oasys can do then this is cheaper and more versatile

Looks and sounds really good to me!

It's basically a Korg Oasys with a couple of extra instruments included (a disk streaming acoustic piano and a modelled electric piano), a weight reduction(!) and a reduced price tag, which seems to have upset some Oasys owners!

Here is a video of the actual product launch at NAMM:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHV3rnkGt3E&feature=watch_response_rev

Interesting how the Oasys is not mentioned through the launch! I have an Oasys 88 and think it's the best sounding synth I have ever owned but it's very heavy and difficult to transport. The 61 key Kronos is much lighter so should be good for concerts.

Here's a forum discussion of a comparison between Kronos and Oasys:

As a reply to your question, if the Kronos has the same D/A converters as the Oasys then I definitely take a fancy to this as the Oasys sound is superb and the flexibility of all the synth model options will keep anyone busy for a very long time.

Cheers,
Michael.

Any good deals out there yet? I have read that the European price is going to be way higher than US! Sad

It seems to be an interesting instrument. If it does the Wavestation thing by the factor ten, I think I might be interested.

But first I need to get that Wave 2.
