I didn't really know Duke but came across a nice tune from 1986 on youtube that kind of reminded me of an early version of Deep Forest.

Did he do much instrumental music?

I'm familiar with George Duke because he played on Frank Zappas' best records (One Size Fits All, Apostrophe, Over-Nite Sensation, etc.). He was pretty good with a synthesizer.
