Sounds great, but unfortunately the reviews I read so far are not very stimulating.

Sorry, it's in French only, but at the end you can read that the video quality is only 1/5. A shame for a recent production.

We were told at the time that the video had 'not come out' due to technical problems with the cameras and recordings.
So it's a minor miracle that a dvd quality release was possible, which clearly it wasn't.

It was mostly mimed anyway, don't worry about it.

Like the late, great philosopher Johnny "Guitar" Watson said:

"It's all about the Dollar Bill..."

In general (because I have not seen the DVD in question): Some concerts should be left canned if picture quality is too low. A lot can be restored these days, because technical possibilities are almost endless, but you need at least some basic quality in the source material to be able to salvage it. The omnivalent image/sound restoration creed "shit in, shit out" is applicable here as far as I can interpret. Another solution would be to turn it into a really wild, solarized, FX laden, 70's psychedelic clip-style set of images

On the other hand, if the historic value is too high, one should take poor picture quality into consideration as an unavoidable parameter. But when a concert is mostly mimed (is that really true?), I wouldn't bother to release it.

It's like Johnny said...

On the TD forum if you type in the word 'mimed' it gets changed to something else

Why would a forum need to do that ?

I was at the SBE 2005 concert about 6 feet from the front, trust me, yes some was played, but an awful lot was not.
TD are experts.

At the MFD concert recently, which I did not attend, the whole MFD section was playbacked and all the artists mimed, I was told this by someone who was there right at the front.

The real pity is that these people do have talent and can play, so why oh why do they choose not to.
What are they afraid of ?

It's live, things are supposed to go wrong, when they dont, get suspicious.

(TM) that last sentence :)

Actual keyboards allow you to asign many patterns or loops into a single key...

And there's also the Arpegiator... pressing one single key you can have a complete song... From my point of view, it's just Technology aplied to Music... And it may seem it's not played alive, But I think it's Ok.
