Dear EMPortal Friends,
We are happy to tell that our new studio album Music from 'The Man Who Laughs' is to be released in the end of August 2025 by Valimo Productions, a small Finnish label devoted to electronic music. The album will be available as a factory pressed CD with an impressive six-page digipak, and as a digital download release.
The album is based on a new musical soundtrack to the silent Hollywood horror melodrama The Man Who Laughs, directed by German director Paul Leni in 1928. The soundtrack was performed live by E-Musikgruppe Lux Ohr and our guest musician Ami Hassinen (of Nemesis) at several film festivals and other screening events in Finland in 2021-2024.
Some parts of the soundtrack were composed by the band members and our guest and some other parts were improvised by all of us. For this CD release, we adapted selected sections of the soundtrack into new arrangements which also stand as independent instrumental tracks. The track order and dynamics of this album follow the dramatic sequence of the film and its musical live soundtrack.
The artwork of the CD digipak is designed by Kimmo Heikkilä.
