I wonder if anyone would be able to help on this, I have a Tascam us1800, and am running Cubase 5LE on Windows 7 32bit. I have only just got back into recording audio on a PC, previously favouring a digital portastudio. My problem is that I can play a stand alone VST using the controller keyboard no problems and MIDI activity is showing in Cubase but when I try to play the VST within a track in Cubase to record the data, I get nothing, no data, no sound. I can however play the VST using the mouse to trigger the notes and that works and records data which in turn produces sound by the VST. So my controller is recognised both in windows 7 and cubase but wont play a VST when in Cubase, any ideas please? I can play everything as it should be in Cakewalk sonar but I am finding the latency in Sonar not good

Hello John, good to hear from you, the setting in Cubase offers an all midi channels option, so everything that is going in, be it, via the Tascam or the USB lead from the controller should be recognized. I have tried sending MIDI via the controllers MIDI out and that didnt work either, although I was powering the controller by the USB lead which may have just counter acted the MIDI lead. Still to try the MIDI lead only option into the Tascam but need to get a PSU or some batteries to power the controller. To be honest this kind of thing turned me off PC recording in the first place, its not too much of a problem as yet as I have enough hardware now, to not bother with the VST's, just that it would be another sound going in live ;-)
