Among my first experiences of electronic music was seeing Duncan Mackay on the British kids TV program 'Magpie', must have been about 1979 or '80. (I was barely into double figures.)
He had wheeled a huge rack of gear into the TV studio, and to demonstrate he set a fast sequence running, and then solo'd over and transposed it with something he called a 'Moog Liberation'. I was astounded, and have remembered that ever since.

I bought Visa in a record store a few years after, and love it. I found Score in a junk shop a few years lafter that. Neither sound anything like I remember him playing on that TV spot.

Yes I remembered seeing him on a kids tv show, it made a big impression on me too. I always thought it was the runaround show on itv With Mike Reid (eastenders one not the DJ). I searched on YouTube the other day and some has uploaded the very clip (which also features metal micky) and it is exactly as you described it.

I Have never listened to any of Duncans music but Im a big fan of the work he did on camels nude album, some beautiful analogue pads and a great solo on the track lies.

Now, I may well be mis-remembering, since it's so long ago, but I still think it was Magpie that I saw, with the presenter Mick, and Duncan Mackay had longer.
Maybe he was doing the rounds of ITV.

Duncan Mackay is one of my all time keyboard heroes. He played in Steve Harley's Cockney Rebel, Alan Parsons Project, Camel and many other bands. I consider him als almost of the same capability as people like Rick Wakeman, Keith Emerson and Patrick Moraz. Chimera, his first soloalbum, sounds almost like Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Visa sadly was never released on cd. Recently, he made a new solorecord, Kintsugi, which is very good.
