Oxygene = Pop

Phaedra = EM

JMJ is just one of the successful lines of French pop artists

The last time I checked, the music on "Oxygene" is done solely by electronic devices. So why won't you call it electronic music?

In order to prevent a larger off-topic discussion in this thread I offer you the following compromise: Let's call "Oxygene" electronic pop music, OK?

Why not! It's still a pop album, with the pop-music/quasi-disco riffs. Oxygene has that classic pop music structure of Intro, main riff, chorus, main riff, chorus, outro as with Equinoxe etc. I like Oxygene, but it doesnt get played a lot nowadays. I know the entire album back to front inside and out.

So the die-hard JMJ fans finally come scuttling into the EMportal. On the basis i call Oxygene pop music. Okay... so it's electronic pop, so is Human League, Heaven 17, Landscape etc etc.

Although your description only can be applied on Oxygene Parts 2, 4 and 6 - plus Equinoxe Part 3, 4 and 5 - I must admit you have a good point.

With that reasoning everything would be "electronic" or "acoustic" or an electronic-acoustic blend.
Hard to define, describe, talk about, etc music on such broad almost meaningless terms.

Ironically much of the early New Age/EM music contained acoustic intruments along with the new "tools" (synths, moog, etc.) of the day
