Synthpop? Not really fond of it. However, I can name Alphaville's Breathtaking Blue and Talk Talks The Colour of Spring. (not synthpop really, but stingray has already mentioned it, so why can't I?) Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock are much better though. These two are some of the best music ever put to tape. IMO.

Alphaville is very synthpop, i mentioned their first two because they were, i didnt mention Breathtaking Blue, it was good but the quality wasnt there i feel, and your right that isnt synthpop but could still be labeled it, so your right why not. Then again i listed Asia, very synth orientated but not really synth pop.

I like all of those, but I'm going to add a few more :)

OMD - Dazzle Ships
John Foxx - The Garden
Gary Numan - Replicas (Tubeway Army), The Pleasure Principle, Dance
The Human League - first 3 albums
Heaven 17 - Penthouse and Pavement
Soft Cell - everything
Ultravox - Systems of Romance, Vienna, Rage in Eden
Visage - first two albums
China Crisis - first two albums
Thomas Dolby - first two albums
Depeche Mode - pretty much everything up to and including Violator
Kas Product - first two albums
Liaisons Dangereuses - s/t
New Musik - all three albums
Icehouse - first two albums (though the first isn't really a synth album)
Telex - most of the early stuff
Y.M.O - most stuff, but especially Technodelic
Yukihiro Takahashi - Neuromantic
Propaganda - A Secret Wish
The Associates - Fourth Drawer Down, Sulk
The The - Soul Mining
Fad Gadget - first 3 albums
Blancmange - Happy Families
Tears for Fears - The Hurting
Chris and Cosey - Songs of Love and Lust
Bill Nelson - Quit Dreaming and Get on the Beam, The Love that Whirls
Rupert Hine - Immunity
Wall of Voodoo - most early stuff
Severed Heads - City Slab Horror
League of Nations - Music for the New Depression
Pyrolator - Inland, Ausland
Der Plan - Geri Reig, Normalette Surprise
The Hypothetical Prophets (Bernard Szajner) - Around the World with The Hypothetical Prophets

I'd also list Japan and Simple Minds, but I never really thought of them as electro-pop (though there IS a lot of synth on some of their songs).

There were also quite a few artists that never released whole albums (or at least ones that I liked), such as Leisure Process, Kid Montana, The Normal, The Informatics, Crash Course in Science, The Body Electric, Thomas Leer etc.
