Hello from Kaustinen, Finland!

Hi, everyone!

My name is Juha-Matti Rautiainen. I've been into electronic music since my teenage years in 90's. The first artists that I listened were Jarre, Vangelis and Tangerine Dream. One of your respected board members (cyberiad2001) was one of the early influences on my musical thinking while listening to Avaruusromua -radio program back then. When I heard Nemesis for the first time in above mentioned program, I understood that this kind of music could be produced in Finland as well. At the time it felt almost impossible to think that way…

I had my musical training with bass guitar in a conventional pop/rock-way and I became a professional musician first and later I graduated as a music teacher. During my studying years electronic music was often regarded as inferior music. I couldn’t understand it and held my head up.

In the first day of the year 2014 I cut the tip of my right index finger in an accident. It actually dropped on the floor… After the accident I started thinking about expressing my primary musical interest (which was ambient at the time) with bass guitar. This was mainly because at first I couldn’t properly use my right ring finger in playing the bass and I had to slow down. This accident was probably one of the most important occasions in my life. It didn’t depress me at all, it gave me strength to be who I was musically. That is how I found my true musical path.

Afterwards I’ve released two solo albums with my bass guitar and the third one is to be released in July. I also started to fulfill my teenage dream and bought some synths as well gathered a modular system. We also recorded a beautiful album ”Off the Map” with Nemesis last summer and I was really delighted to play with them.

My stuff with heavily effected bass guitar can be heard mainly at my Bandcamp site. My synth stuff (which I regard as a side project) can be heard at my Soundcloud page. I will share the links below.

My favourite electronic artists are above mentioned classics in addition to Klaus Schulze, Brian Eno, Kraftwerk, Cluster, Boards of Canada and Nemesis (of course!).

This is my Bandcamp:

…And this is my Soundcloud for the side projects with synths and other stuff:

(The track that I linked is actually my first ever endeavour with analog synths. It is 100% Berlin School and one of the dearest tracks that I’ve ever recorded…)

I hope to be a part of this community, although I’m afraid that my posting pace will be quite serene, because of the ultra busy family years…

Welcome here :)

I have all your albums (and all Nemesis releases, of course). Have you thought about releasing your synth stuff also in Bandcamp? I think it could great. 80% of the music I listen to is while driving and at my car (60K km per year) and there I have no choice of internet connnection or streaming...

And last but not least, "Off the amp" is superb. Congratulations 8)

I've planning to do so, but I'm still working with the audio, because on my BC I want to release only music that is HQ. So after the mixing and mastering is done, I will release my debut synth album (wich has actually been ready for over a year!).

Thanks for your warm welcome! :)

Great! 8)

The piece you have uploaded to Soundcloud sounds very good, I do like that Froese style.
