Norway's Jan Garbarek is known mostly as a jazz saxophonist, but several of his albums inlcudes his tasteful keyboard playing as well:

Twelve Moons 1993
Visible World 1996
Rites 1999
In Praise Of Dreams 2004

Opinions on his stuff from these albums?

He is an amazing musician. With quite a long discography.
I also love his collaborations with Keith Jarrett.
Saw him live once with the Hilliard Ensemble in early 90's :!:

I agree on you. I have the first album on Minidisc. Rented from the Library which is legal in NL.

Very authentic and fine music.

What interests me the most is that Norway has some very fine musicians in our field. Whenever they publish a CD, it's a damn good one.

I have quite a few albums by Jan Garbarek (and other recordings that he has appeared on).

I fear that his music bears more and more of a resemblance these days though to another famous soprano sax player with the same second initial.....

I love his daughter's (Anja) solo album Smiling and Waving.

That one is quite incredible...

She had a new album last year, called Briefly Shaken. Haven't heard it yet, but I'm looking out for it...

His daughter is also great. Is not the tipycal "my father is an artist so I am also". She makes very interesting music, very original.
