For me, Beyond the Mind's Eye is as good as EM gets. It's probably in my top 25 of all time. Some of the tracks are so good it's ridiculous. The album may be more of a "synth-jazz fusion" sound, but it's so darn catchy and full of great hooks that who cares? It's much more consistently listenable than the James Reynolds soundtrack to the first Mind's Eye video and don't even get me started on Thomas Dolby's wretched third soundtrack!
Hammer's next CD, Drive, has some good tracks on it, but is definitely closer to his work with Jeff Beck and also has much more of a jazz sound to it. Still, at least 2 or 3 tracks are worth it.
Wish he was still recording and releasing this kind of music..he isn't, is he?
