The music was created in a hotel room in Zurich, where I worked at Circus Conelli for my third season in 2015.
I saw the lake by the circus every day; I'd been walking around it since 2012, always between mid-November and the end of the year.
A somewhat magical, somewhat "ordinary" place, in the middle of a big city, bustling with life, especially in the run-up to Christmas. On the one hand, the colorful lights of the circus itself, the city, trams, cars, houses, and the windows of the most expensive shops.
When dawn and the weather were clear, the Alps were visible in the distance; when dusk fell, everything became eerie, and even more so when fog appeared, which was a frequent occurrence.
Creating this music was a break from the routine at the circus, where each day was a repetition of the previous one.
These evening walks created a different rhythm, as if through the eye of a kaleidoscope. Inner inspirations have been smouldering within me since 2008, when I first visited this city.
Generally, I don't like the circus; for me, it's low-class entertainment, a so-so show to please the crowd. Through the prism of these experiences, "Lake" was created, reminiscing about our Polish lakes, as well as a reference to my city of Poznań, where we also have a lake in the middle of the city and several smaller ones in its surroundings.
Completely different, surrounded by forests and vegetation.
