In this discography appears the album you are asking for,
as a normal catalogue,

But Hypothesis and the Dragon as "Rarities"... Go figure...

I think that The Dragon and Hypothesis are considered rarities because Vangelis never officially acknowledged them. They were studio jams that were not supposed to be released, at least that is what I heard. The mastertapes were smuggled out of the studio and pressed on vinyl, and Vangelis never received a penny from their sales. Again, that's "the word" on the internet.

I bought them quite a long time ago. I had just bought Heaven and Hell, because some music of that album had been used in the television series Cosmos (presented by the legendary Carl Sagan). Much to my surprise, a lot of the music on H&H was quite different from what was used as background music in Cosmos, so at first I was a bit disappointed. Just when I had figured out how to listen to H&H, I found Hypothesis and The Dragon in my local record store.

Being somewhat of a sci-fi freak, I started with Hypothesis, because it has an incredible sci-fi cover. My first reaction was of shock. I honestly believed that someone had pressed the wrong music on the LP. Not much better with The Dragon, although that was a bit more accessible.

Of course, over the years, I developed a great fondness for these albums. And I'm glad I bought them on vinyl back then (they were cheap as chips...) because nowadays a good clean copy of either one will set you back quite a substantial amount of money...

But not as much as "fais que ton r

Interesting what you comment, because the cover art, indeed, for both of them surpasses even some of the subsequent Vangelis' albums...

And Cosmos gave Vangelis an incredible exposure...

Music works in mysterious ways...
😉

By the way... how much you think I can have from my Dragon LP?

Enough for a brand new synth? Hehe...
I think not...

Hmmm... now that you mention...
I can make a nice 10 pack for eBay

I'll give it a thought...
Cheers!

No, unfortunately not. It greatly depends on the exact version and the overall state it is in. Prices vary between 20 and 100 dollars. The same goes for Hypothesis.

I picked up 'Hypothesis' at a record fair for 12 pounds and paid only 6 pounds for the 'Dragon' in a local shop. Theyre both in pretty good condition.

As a matter of fact, I found a rather good copy of The Dragon for only 4 Euro's yesterday  .

The prices I mentioned were from online collector's shops. Your local shop may keep prices as low as possible to compete with the internet, and people who sell their old vinyl at flee markets often don't have a clue of the value of their merchandise. A record fair is a different world altogether, and I have noticed a sharp increase in prices over the last 10 years. Most of the people who sell 2nd hand vinyl there use the internet as a source of price-information, and that is where the "inflation" is coming from.

So I think that 12 pounds is a rather good price, provided that the vinyl is in NM or at least VG+ condition.
