I'm genuinely gobsmacked. I was fortunate enough to see a couple of Redshift and Arc concerts and what Mark did with the sequencer was unique and irreplaceable.
As reported by Ian Boddy on FB:
I am deeply upset & terribly saddened to have to make this announcement but my long time friend & musical collaborator Mark Shreeve passed away yesterday. I've known him for 40 years and we have of course composed and released a lot of music together as well as playing on stage at many memorable concerts. And these memories are certainly precious to me and will be forever. Here are a few further words from Mark's brother Julian.
“As Mark’s sibling and long-term musical collaborator, I am devastated that he has left us so soon – not only losing my only brother but also a terrible loss of creativity, capability, and the enormous dedication he had to create quality EM: he was a giant in electronic music and an expert in digital, analogue, and modular synthesis, as well as in production and performance. From early days as very young men when we visited ‘music shops’ to try out synths we could not afford, to performing in many European EM festivals over 27 years, Mark’s passion inspired me to get involved with him and the scene, and to assist him in his earlier music career as well as be a creative contributor to Redshift’s sound and albums. I know he has inspired countless others and has developed a dedicated fanbase whom will also miss him terribly. I hope all of us will continue to value his wonderful legacy for the remainder of our daysâ€.
