This was meant to come out late last year to celebrate Minimoog's 40th anniversary, anyone seen one yet?

Real MiniMoog circuitry & Voyager in one semi modular package.
The $5k price will probably put more pressure on the original Minimoogs with asking prices of $2.5-3.5k depending on condition.

The Voyager didn´t impress me when it first came out, and it impressed me even less with those added bells and whistles. I think it´s a turkey on a bunch of levels, and this semi-modularity is just a means to blur the vision.

It just doesn´t sound like a real Mini Moog, full stop. And I find its build quality rather flimsy for that steep an asking price.

It's what classics are all about, once that badge is earned it becomes history just the way it was, good or not so good.
Resurrections, substitutes and compromises become just copies.

The Voyager went through quite a few limited editions mostly cosmetic, an unusual marketing strategy for a musical instrument.

Which, in my opinion, only goes to show how little ideas Moog Music has these days. They are selling their one-trick pony in various guises, hoping they can cash in one what little they´ve got to offer: their name and the reputation associated with it. That´s not a big asset anymore these days.

Moog synthesisers are like Harley Davidson motorcycles... they are ugly, limited, and primitive, but they´ve become legends as they came about at the right time in the right place to create the right image people could hang their dreams onto.

I for one would rather settle for some British product of the same era... give me a BSA Goldstar or a Norton Commando anytime.

Too big and too heavy, really ;).

A Brough Superior or a Vincent Black Shadow would do as well...
