You should go see Steven Wilson live if you have the chance, Michael. Seriously.

Well, I will, I guess - just waiting for the chance to come.

I think I like him a lot (as a person, I mean) judging from the interviews I know, and from his conversation with KS on the Loreley DVD.

As for the music I have to admit that I'm not yet fully converted into a Porcupine Tree fan. I don't know why, I know several of their albums, some early, some later, and of course they are brilliant musicians in a technical sense, just: the spark didn't...ehm (what the hell do sparks do...?!), dunno: jump over. The penny didn't drop. But I can't put the finger on it. It should be just my cup oft tea, but...

A friend did send me some of his solo or side projects though a while ago, and that seemed much more interseting to me. Just: I didn't find the time yet to really imbibe this, maybe something I should put on my list...

Hope they will invent the 48-hours-day soon. ;-)

I'm not the greatest Porcupine Tree fan either, but Storm Corrosion and his solo albums are totally awesome.

I loved the early PT albums, but found recent albums - and his solo work - unlistenable.

I indeed remember I liked the debut album the most, the instrumental parts in particular, they seemed to slightly have a "Krautrock quality" - or at least, that was my association...

Well "unlistenable" wouldn't be the word I use, rather that their songwriting doesn't really touch me, usually...

Great interview, thanks for posting the link Michael.

I think Steven Wilson is the most brilliant composer alive today.
Besides his musical output I also like his ideas and opinions on music and the music industry.

I love his recent output, Grace for Drowning and Storm Corrosion (with another hero of mine Mikael Ã…kerfeldt) are my favorite albums of the 21st century!

The older stuff with PT is nice too, with ups and downs. His work with Tom Bowness in no-man also hits the right spot.

Can't wait to get my hands on the new album!

If you are interested in his Krautrock output try to get your hands on the 4 I.E.M. albums.
