News from Iapetus Media / Unsung Productions

Dear friends,

Here’s a roundup of the latest Iapetus / Unsung Productions news!

MIKE OLDFIELD'S "ISLANDS"

Lee Fletcher and Markus Reuter, together with frequent collaborator Lisa Fletcher, (all of whom collectively recorded last year’s acclaimed ‘Faith in Worthless Things’ album) have produced a distinctive cover of the Mike Oldfield song ‘Islands’. Aside from the trio’s own performances the recording features guest players Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel, King Crimson, David Bowie), Tim Motzer (David Sylvian), Alan Burton (Baka Beyond), Tobias Reber (CENTROZOON), and The Quohren Quartet. Long-term Oldfield associate Simon Heyworth (co-producer of Tubular Bells) has mastered this new version at his Super Audio Mastering facility in Devon, UK.

“Having been a lifelong fan of Mike’s music - which has greatly influenced my own - it’s a real pleasure for me to work on this special song in the year of his 60th birthday.” (Markus Reuter)

‘Islands’ is available for high quality download exclusively via Lee’s Bandcamp store, (also accessible via http://iapetus-store.com).

THE CRIMSON PROJEKCT LIVE IN JAPAN

Three consecutive nights (15th – 17th March) were recorded at Club Citta', Tokyo, during The Crimson ProjeKCt’s Spring 2013 tour. Featuring Adrian Belew, Tony Levin, Pat Mastelotto, Markus Reuter, Julie Slick and Tobias Ralph, all three shows have been released by the band as ‘official bootleg’ albums and can be purchased as downloads exclusively via http://iapetus-store.com

MARKUS REUTER'S TODMORDEN 513 PREMIERE VIDEO + PLEDGE CAMPAIGN

Finally for this month here’s a video link that contains a 14 minute excerpt of Markus Reuter’s ‘Todmorden 513’ as performed by the Colorado Chamber Orchestra in April:

This is not yet the final mixed / mastered version that will be released, but it gives those who were unable to attend the performance a tantalizing glimpse of what is to come!

The PledgeMusic campaign for ‘TM513’ is almost over, but you can still help by “liking”, sharing and commenting directly on the YouTube video page. We're currently promoting the piece to other orchestras and your visible support will help raise its profile and show people that there’s an audience for this kind of work…

Thanks, as always, for your continued support!

Iapetus - August 2013 Newsletter

 ·
Posted: 19.08.2013 - 18:12  ·  #2

Dear friends,

We'll shortly be re-launching the iapetus store into a more fleshed-out / customer friendly website with artist bios, searchable discographies, news items, and newsletter archives. The launch is set for some time in September, and we'll be sure to notify our friends and supporters via the next newsletter, (as well as the usual social media outlets).

In the mean time here's the latest news from the iapetus / Unsung Productions team…

Markus Reuter has teamed up with long-term collaborator Ian Boddy to record "Colour Division” which will be the pair's sixth studio album together. The release date is the 8th October but you can listen to a 10-minute teaser-trailer of the album right now via the DiN website: http://www.din.org.uk/din/node/473 The album was mastered by Lee Fletcher.

Leading up to this new release our friends at DiN have reduced the price of all five previous Boddy / Reuter releases to just £5 each for both downloads or CDs! Here are the direct links for each – The offers run until the end of October:

http://dinrecords.bandcamp.com/album/triptych-din9
http://dinrecords.bandcamp.com/album/pure-din17
http://dinrecords.bandcamp.com/album/dervish-din33

While we're on special offers, Stick Men's "Open” is currently at the special price of 5 Euros for the download or 8.99 for the CD. This runs until the 31st September and is available exclusively from the Iapetus store: http://iapetus-store.com/album/open

Lee Fletcher's "Faith in Worthless Things” featuring Markus Reuter and Lisa Fletcher (plus a host of guest artists including Tim Motzer, Robert Fripp, Luca Calabrese, Bernhard Wöstheinrich and SiRenée) is also on special offer until the end of August… You can pick up the CD & Postcard for only £3.95, or the limited / signed & numbered edition for £5.95. There are also special CD bundles including other related releases: http://leefletcher.bandcamp.co…ess-things

Speaking of Lee, Lisa and Markus – All three are eligible for nomination in a variety or categories at this year's UK "South West Music Awards”. Lee was awarded the "Best Producer” accolade last year, but this time there are potentially six relevant titles up for grabs. We'd really appreciate our friends and supporters taking a few mins to vote… If in the UK you can TEXT the following (just once) to 07826 632001, and if outside the UK the same info can be sent via the 'Contact Us' page here: http://swma.vpweb.co.uk/CONTACT-PAGE.html

BREAKTHROUGH ACT: Lee Fletcher
SINGLE: Islands, by Fletcher / Fletcher / Reuter
ALBUM: Faith in Worthless Things, by Lee Fletcher
PRODUCER: Lee Fletcher
VIDEO: Older Than God (music doc series)
BEST ACT: Fletcher / Fletcher / Reuter

Voting closes on 16th September. Getting nominated (and possibly winning) really does help to promote the work being done by the Iapetus "family” of artists outside the usual channels :-)

Finally for now here's a recap of the other 3 Euro deals that we posted in our previous newsletter, all of which are still running:

Sorry, I hit an unexpected problem letting this new issue of the Iapetus-Newsletter appear here on this page. But finally I fixed it somehow.
