When You wrote that question, the TD concert in Frankfurt had not yet happened, but today I can say:
Yup - all in all it was a nice time.
Incidentally, I have just posted a few photos and a brief "report" over at FB, so in case anyone else here is interested in my opinion on that, here it is:
TD delivered a most impressive and memorable show, that was just marvelous on the performance level - three accomplished musicians in perfect synchronicity.
The highlight for me certainly was the session, which they decided to play mid-show this time. Especially the opening five or ten minutes were sheer bliss (...and very 70s-like, Mellotron and all).
That said, I have to admit that if I had assembled the rest of the set list, it would have turned out differently (...although "Betrayal" from Sorcerer sure was a great opener, especially since that album was my introduction to TD).
But I suppose that the majority of their audience was pleased, since people seem to prefer early / mid 80s TD (and later soundalikes). So I can hardly blame the band for not delivering what their fans demanded...
One thing I really wish they had handled differently though was their high volume, but especially the excess amount of (sub) bass, which they seem to believe is impressive, but I felt it was rather opressive - like they say, sometimes less can be more. 🥴
Oh, and speaking of "more", one thing I would have appreciated was hearing more of Hoshiko's violin playing ("more" both in the sense of "more often" and "more clearly" on those occasions when she played, as partly her notes where drowned in the string-like sounds of synth pads etc. that were sounding at the same time...).
Finally, I also should mention the light show and projections - both were taste- and beautiful and added a lot to make the evening special...
P.S. They didn't play "Stratosfear" though - or maybe in a version I didn't recognize...?!?
Those of You who are on FB can see the photos here:
There are also clips on YT already, like this one (btw. even if this one says "Session Part 1" it doesn't include the most beautiful bits of the build-up...):
