Passport's Infinity Machine from 1976. What a gem of an album/cd.

Weaving jazz funk and a little berline school in the last tracks thanks to Kristian Schultze(later started Cusco) and Klaus Doldinger!

Its still available in the US on cd and its a rare 1970s jazz funk classic that has a more European flavor if you know what I mean. Nice grooves!

Ostinato is a groovy jazzy sequencer type track on that album, it's a gem indeed

I frankly like the jazz on that album better than the EM.

And the title track from Ataraxia beats anything on Infinity Machine tenfold

Other than Weather Report, Passport was the definitive sound in "fusion" early on......I have all their CD''s and they smoke baby!!

Klaus Doldinger is a tremendous musician with a lot of flavor....

Another long-time favorite artist/band of mine. Klaus has got to be in his 80's by now, considering he was being recorded back in the '50's before I was born (and I'm ancient!

)! I have most all of the Passport / Klaus Doldinger CD's and just tracked down an affordable copy of MOVE. And yeah, Ataraxia, both the song and the album, smokes! Don't miss the title track from CROSS-COLLATERAL; furious sax-solo followed by some cool Moog and e-Piano jams. I also like the mellow Albatross Song from the same album. Often overlooked is the earlier HAND MADE which I also recommend highly; a little more raw than some of the later releases, but this is not a bad thing.

For pure electronic music, check out Klaus's solo CONSTELLATION, another CD I haven't played in a while. And his soundtrack to DAS BOOT is one of my all-time favorites.

I wish Klaus a long and healthy life and hope that he keeps making great music as long as he can!

Herr Doldinger was still active as of just a couple of years ago and still blowing the sax like a much younger man. Not so much in the way of electronics any more (he seems to have hung up his keyboards back in the late '90's), more bluesy than Berlin but he can still pen a great tune. I'm a fan of his "Man*" compositions (Mandragora, Mandrake, Mangrove, Mangroove, you get the picture) as they all are very uplifting, energetic tracks.
