Hi folks,
do you think it would be possible to support https on emportal.info, just to make the web browsers happy? https://letsencrypt.org/ might be an option.
Thanx

Good point. I'll see what the options are with the (low-end) hosting we have. I'm familiar with Let's Encrypt and that's certainly a good option. TBC.

Firefox 58 (the current version) switches to https automatically, then it complains about your self-signed certificate. I have to click through a lengthy queue of confirmation dialogs to reach the forum :-(.

I don't have to, actually.FF 58 on macOS. But the implementation of https is out of my control at the moment.

If I go to emportal.info/ on Chromium (Linux), then I have to click away some "bad certificate" messages first, next I see a message "This IP is being shared among many domains. To view the domain you are looking for, simply enter the domain name in the location bar of your web browser."

Can you verify the weird expiration date in the certificate (Dec 18th, 1902), and that its common name is "localhost" instead of "emportal.info"?

EMPortal has no certificate. I was able to reproduce the warning you got by entering www.emportal.info, but that should actually result in an error.
If you use http;//www.emportal.info (so no https - as there is no secure version of EMPortal at the moment) you should not get any warnings.

Agreed, but AFAICS Firefox tries https instead of http on its own, and then it stumbles over the unwanted invalid certificate.
