Pop, or 'popular music'. Some if not most of the best music over the last 50 years has been "pop" meaning it's on a major label, or played on the radio, on the charts, etc.

Shouldn't it praised more than shunned? Don't get me wrong.. I think of pop in varying degrees. There's "bubblegum pop" that sometimes means stuff 11 yr old girls listen to. It's popular but to a different group. Prog rock, psych rock, early metal, etc were the "big thing" in the 1970s along with softer pop like the Carpenters, etc.

I just want to clarify that the term pop can mean many things depending on it's usage, no?

Without genres it's a total mess. How would anyone find what he / she likes? :?:

One thing i dont do is listen to todays Pop, its garbage IMO, however i do like 80s and 90s Pop and always will, also 70s. Most of the music i listen to is EM, my tastes definitely have changed, my roots definitely started in the 70s - Pop, Jazz, New Age, Blues, and yes EM-but not nearly as much today.
