I just found out that Chick Corea dedicated this album to L. Ron Hubbard (who completely flunked as an SF novelist, and later became the founder of the Scientology Church).

I wonder if Corea had 'Hubbard the SF novelist' or 'Hubbard the cult-founder' in mind when he came up with this dedication.

There is no clear information in Wiki on this subject. Any thoughts?

Never liked that L. Ron Hubbard dude, and that scientology nonsense, they have something we don't...........way too much money and time

Chick Corea could have left that silliness alone as far as I'm concerned

In any event you can't take anything away from his musical talents

Chick Corea was/is very much into the scientology movement I'm afraid. The lyrics on the early records were very scientology oriented. My thoughts about scientology are pretty much the same as my thoughts about any other "religion", but thankfully it doesn't prevent me from appreciating the fine music on those early Return to Forever records.

You are right, of course. On the other hand I can't help but feel (although I have absolutely no hard evidence) that most art made by Scientology members (like Tom Cruise movies) is at least partly meant as pro-scientology propaganda. It doesn't make them any less of an artist (I think Cruise is a good actor, and Corea is an exceptional keyboardist), but they will always have me wondering...

Amen and hallelujah from me.
I really like RTF and LOVE Bill Connors guitar playing early on.
