Episode 210 of Sonolab has as it's theme ambient songwriting and has as its featured album The Northern Religion Of Things by Nosound. Nosound is build around singer / guitarist / keyboardplayer Giancarlo Erra's songwriting which is heavily influenced by ambient music. He wears his influences wholeheartedly on his sleeve (and we will showcase two of them in this show) but manages to create something special out of it.
Normally Nosound is a full band and delves on their albums into progressive rock territory but on The Northern Religion Of Things Giancarlo Erra strips his songs to their bare bones playing everything live in the studio.
This results in the following playlist:
* Nosound - About Butterflies And Children / Fading Silently
from the album The Northern Religion Of Things (label: Kscope)
* no-man - Night Sky, Sweet Earth
from the album Speak (label: Materiali Sonori)
* Nosound - Lightdark
from the album The Northern Religion Of Things (label: Kscope)
* Nosound - Clouds
from the album Lightdark [2-disc edition] (label: Kscope)
* Nosound - Sol29
from the album The Northern Religion Of Things (label: Kscope)
* Alesini & Andreoni feat. David Sylvian - The Golden Way
from the album Marco Polo (label: Materiali Sonori)
* Nosound - Cold Afterall
from the album Lightdark [2-disc edition] (label: Kscope)
How can I listen to the show? Go here: http://gemist.omroepalmelo.nl
If you want to listen live then check in around 19:00 (Central European Time) and click on "Live Stream" which you can find in the left column of the screen. However, the whole show is also available within minutes after 20:00 as an On Demand Stream. For that click on Sonolab in the list of programs in the middle of the screen. A second window will open up (might be that you have to accept that through your pop-up killer) and the show starts (with a bit of that evenings 19:00 hours news first).
Check in if you have the time and let me know what you think of the show.
