Steve Hug ?

I just bought a CD called "Organics" by Steve Hug.

I used to own this one about 14 years ago, but for reasons only known to my younger self.... I sold it, forgot about it, and then seeing it for sale at a good price while browsing last week, I bought it again.

I had a look on Discogs and noted that Steve Hug only ever released this one album on Manikin Records back in 1999, then nothing more....

From memory (it's been well over a decade since I gave the album a listen), it was quite a good album, hence my surprise that he didn't go on to release more music.....

Has anyone ever heard or him? Is he still in music?

Just curious....

Alas... it was many years ago Starwalker, what can I say... 😉

It is however back in my collection now, and having given it a listen this evening I'm glad I bought it again, as it's a very good album, although I'm curious as to why Steve Hug didn't follow it up with another album ?

A wee bit off topic, but I finally managed to get hold of a copy of Chuck Van Zyl's The Relic at a reasonable price, so I've filled a gap in my collection with one CD, and become reacquainted with an old friend I'd parted company with and not listened to for over decade, so it's all good... :D

It's only speculation here but he seems to have been more busy buying and selling vintage synthesisers in the mid and late 1990s rather than making music for the sake of it. I remember talking to him on the phone once, and I still wish I had had those bloody 7,500 Swiss Francs he was asking for the refurbished Korg PS-3300...

I tend to say his album was more or less brought out to showcase the Technosaurus modular system he was involved in at that time (and which gloriously failed when rumours popped up that there was nothing but a re-worked Formant under the hood -- no evidence for that but I always felt the outer appearance of this system was larger than life). When the Technosaurus (what a daft name btw) went belly-up...

Thanks for the information Stephen :)

Gave Organics a listen last night, for the first time in what must be over a decade, and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Why I sold it all those years ago remains a bit of a mystery, but I'm glad it's back in my collection again.... 😉
