[...] It looks like the whole Bandcamp site may disappear ? I still stream these albums frequently on the Bandcamp app so will have to ensure I have them all downloaded I suppose. [...]

I wonder why he is also closing down the Bandcamp shop as this requires the least amount of attention.

Because it's a label account (in "pro" mode, with multiple sub-pages for each artist), not a free one. Which is at a considerable annual fee. As far as I know, it can't be reverted back to a simple free account.

OTOH, though, every artist featured on Syngate's BC site might as well upload his own album(s) there -- I would steer clear of Spotify and the likes as their policy is ridiculous. A billion streams for Coldplay, and just a handful of quid as royalties?

Give me a break.

Stephen

I quitted Spotify a few years ago and never regretted it. After I left, it had no negative effect on the interest of my music. I think it even gained some.

I think everyone in the EM-scene should leave Spotify if they haven't already. People are lazy in general and that's why it is a success. And because the loyal fans of EM still want their music, they will seek other ways to get it. That is Bandcamp for example.
