Quality is for me something different than for others ;)
For me quality is something I can listen to for more than 2 times :D

i.e. quality = what I like ;)

everyone has different ideas about what makes something 'good', mostly based on previous experience. So it is to be expected that people with different experiences will think differently.

Hardware and software are just tools, things people use to realise the music they want to make, different people like different tools to make different music, there's no right or wrong, just opinions

Without a multi finger touch screen, all laptop music will not be as live as a real hardware concert. Right now you need some hardware to change to parameters at the same time. Or do you see two mouse pointers if you connect to mouses to the computer?

But on the other hand, who is actually still playing real live. I am so borred by those many faking EM concerts with a DVD playback to see the computer animations synced to the beat.
This is not live at all to me.

I agree on this one. Look at a 70-ties performance of Rick Wakeman (see YouTube).

Anymore more precise thoughts about quality EM or not-EM?

You can connect midi-keyboards with knobs and sliders to alter the VSTi settings live.

Showing animations has nothing to do with live playing, only when the music is not played live ;)
about playback with DVD or CD, and than play live over it?
Ever seen Schulze and TD Live? they used tapemachines for the background sounds, why not CD ??

BTW Is Rick Wakeman EM?? ;)

But this looks indeed better than a laptop

I thinks it is what you want to see, not what you want to hear when you are going to a live concert ;)

But that has nothing to do with the topic

let`s face it, a step sequencer line is not live, ok you can tweak it a bit but this can also with a laptop.
repeating notes played by a machine.

don`t get me wrong I love sequences but it is not played live.
