Too many places to post?

I have a hard time finding out where to post various subjects in this forum. I don't even know if this post is in the right place. I think there are WAY too many places to post things here. Anyone agree?
I think the forum would be much better if we only had, let's say 10 groups or something. This is too fragmented, in my opinion.

your post is on the right place

could you give me an example of something you like to post but doubt where to do it.

The more you visit here the more you get familiar with our "structure" ;-)

For example, there are the following groups:

New realeases and reviews
The golden era period 1968-1987

Klaus Schulzes new album is now discussed in the latter of those two groups. Should it be in the first?
And if we discuss TD/KS etc. post 1987, should those discussions be in another group?

Just an example :-)

In my opinion this forum would be much more user friendly if it was tightened a little bit. But maybe you are right, that I get used to it in a while.

Another example. We have the following groups:

Progressive rock with EM
Hard rock with EM
Jazzy based EM
EM for dance and trance, minimal electro, hardcore
EM influenced pop music

Why not just:

EM in other genres

Just a thought :-)

Thanks Thomas for giving it your thoughts.

In this case I do not agree with you as people visiting this website for the first time and check the forum in a glance will notice the variety of subjects. The crossover styles create extra attention and therefore need to be "highlighted". With other words at this stage I think it is better to leave it the way it is. If we have enough people and EMPortal has a bit of a reputation we might re-structure the topics.

As the forum is only 4,5 months old we need all the support to grow.

p.s. KS new release has been placed where it belongs : New Releases

I also think that this forum has too many subforums and could do with some pruning. There are currently 36, quite a few of which are very specialised and could easily be a thread in another higher level forum

e.g. Now Playing, Music you have recently bought, New Member Introductions, The Mall, Cover Art, Whatever Happened to, Did you know, Movidrome could all be threads under Miscellaneous
