Today I received an update on Michael Stearns' musical whereabouts:
"Here's a list of projects going on (simultaneously!).
1) I'm remixing Baraka in 24/96 for the BluRay and HD DVD releases in 5.1. All of original 2" 24
track source tapes (12 tapes, 72 tracks wide!) have been transfered to 24/96 .wav files which I'm
using for the new mix. This will be done by May 1st.
2) I'm scoring John Banks new DVD, "Nature's Journey". I believe Fritz Heede scored his first two
DVDs, "Illuminated Manuscripts" and "Ritual Path". Anyway, I'm scoring the new one and the music
has to be finished by April 15th. It will be released in the fall in three formats, standard DVD, BluRay
and HD DVD all with 5.1 soundtracks.
3) I'm producing Vidia Wesenlund's new CD of Norwegean Lullabys. These have been recorded with
some very unusual instrumentation. This project is nearly finished.
4) Last week I started producing the soundtrack to National Geographic's new IMAX 3D film, "Sea
Monsters". Peter Gabriel is contributing a song and his studio crew is scoring the film. This
completes on June 18th.
So, lots of work at the moment... all of it has to be finished within the next several months.
Still working out of my studio here in Santa Fe, New Mexico".
