"Earth" versus "New Age of Earth"

[align=justify]"My face in the rain"; the fourth track from the B side of Vangelis' 'debut' released in 1973 could have been an inspiration for Ashra's monumental "New Age of Earth" (1976). Not only the title 'refers' to the album of the Greek Master but it is striking how the music of this track 'precedes' Ashra's NAOE. If you ignore the vocal part and concentrate on the instrumental music you get the recipe and flavour for Ashra's 1976 masterpiece.

Controversial!

I love that Vangelis album, my favourite by him.

I agree, this album is timeless and remarkably authentic. I love the mix of traditional and 'state-of-the-art' electronic music

Interesting indeed. I must confess that "Earth" is one of those Vangelis albums still missing in my collection.

However, heard it on several occasions along the road, but can't recall it in detail.

Possible that he provided the inspiration for Manuel (as he did for many). Then again, sometimes a lot of people come up with similar things around the same time on different places on the globe without a direct connection.

A case of Zeitgeist, maybe, or sometimes a question of the availability of technology...

Incredible! :D

I don't think he ever did a better album.
