I guess at least Vangelis released a fair share of experimental music along with his "technical great" stuff...
Oh, and thinking of Jarre, at least "Zoolook" deserves some credit for being pioneering, too, I guess...

there are enough great bands beside those two.
Oh, I didn't expect You to like 'Zoolook' (...or 'Beauburg') - however, if we like them or not, they certainly were experimental.
Then again, I could imagine that You might actually enjoy 'Beaubourg' - not much like any other release by Vangelis I know. A little bit like 'Esoteric Goody', the bonus track from the rerelease of KS' "Dig It", if You know that one. A feast of ring modulation, all very rough and metallic...
I, for one, always thought it to be weird and wonderful...

First LP was The Beatles - "Something New" bought sometime in the late 1960s.
First CD was Tangerine Dream - "Rubycon" probably around 1985-86 when I bought my first CD player.

First vinyl LP I bought? No idea for sure. Was probably a mid-80s pop or rap album... Nothing 'cool', that's for sure.
First CD I do remember clearly (still have it): Tangerine Dream, Flashpoint. I had a portable disc player *acquired* for me by some friends who worked in an electrical store...

The first LP that I bought was the first Dave Clark Five album "Glad All Over"....I had worn out the single. This was probably 1965. I saw them in concert with my best friend in 65 or 66. We each saved up for the $5.00 tickets.
I bought my first CD when I bought my first CD player. At the time (mid 80's) CD players were ridiculously expensive ($600 or more). Fisher came out with a player for only $249. I bought it at Crazy Eddie's (older folks from the US East Coast are probably familiar with the crazy commercials) along with the Dark Side of the Moon CD.
Most recent CD purchase was Chuck Van Zyl's 3 CD set Live on Star's End 2021-2022.
I have no idea what LP was my most recent purchase. The last LP that I bought would have been sometime in the 90's.
