Could you please tell me what happened to my post of January 13, 2008 under the EM News topic and www.MusicZeit.com subject. The thread was started December 11, 2007. It was a discussion about flac files. Thank you.

Eeehm, this doesn't really ring a bell (at least not with me).

Depending on when it disappeared, I could have a look in the backup. But I doubt it's worth it.

What was the subject/topic of your post?

1) Select EM-News under Main Portal on Forum Index.
2) Goto page Previous 3.
3) Scroll down to topic www.musiczeit.com (#22 from the top).
4) On the first page, scroll down to johnpaul's post of Jan 13, 2008.
I thought this was an open discussion about the advantages and disadvantages of flac files which at this time was a relatively new subject for some forum members.
Thank you.

Relax man! This is a technical issue. It seems that part of your post has disappeared due to character encoding issues. You know, it's what we called the "database problems" for the last... what is it... 6 months?

I'll see if I can retrieve the message. But rest assured, nothing was deliberately deleted or removed. It is (or rather was) a technical issue.

Hope to have shed some light on this mystery. Smile

Update: I restored your message... The full sentence.

Hope this helps.

To others: I won't do this for each and every post that got lost along the way... Wink

"FLAC is a very unpopular file type and is recognized by only a limited number of applications."

Cool for VCO1 saving it from oblivion.

It seemed a hot thread in 2008, I guess MZ's punt for flac paid off though.
Now, 3 years down the track, most applications recognise flac (except iTunes, natively) and it is the format of choice for lossless audio.
Perhaps, still not ideal enough for the purists but a very practical alternative to lossless formats.
