Origo Sound is Norway's leading label for ambient & ambient techno music with a catalogue of state-of-the-art recordings in professional, stylish packaging, having released 25 carefully selected albums since 1990. They launched the career of Biosphere, and other Origo Sound recording artists are: Green Isac, Neural Network, Karsten Brustad, Eyeman Reel, Exile (aka. Erik Wollo), Current, Circular, Sverre Knut Johansen, Dystopia, Living Dreamtime, Biosphere, and Langsomt Mot Nord.

Now, all available albums can be purchased from http://www.cdbaby.com/all/origosound which is the first official online retail point that carries all of Origo's releases (they never had a website before). In this introduction week, if you buy 6 titles or more we'll ship you for free a CD single of your choice - you can choose from Current's Ghost Trip, Eyeman Reel's Bird Colony or the 3-track label sampler Future Proof. CDbaby ships from their US warehouse so our American friends should not need to wait long to receive some great new music.

You can check out http://www.cdbaby.com/all/origosound but let me break down our releases:

If you are into floating, classic ambient music, I suggest you check out
these albums:
http://cdbaby.com/cd/livingdreamtime
http://cdbaby.com/cd/dystopia
http://cdbaby.com/cd/neuralnetwork2

Ambient techno and rhythmic ambient structures can be found on:
http://cdbaby.com/cd/neuralnetwork1
http://cdbaby.com/cd/circular1
http://cdbaby.com/cd/circular2

If melodic, uptempo Jarre-ish music is your thing, there are several great
albums to listen to:
http://cdbaby.com/cd/currentsounds2
http://cdbaby.com/cd/currentsounds3
http://cdbaby.com/cd/exilesounds
(aka Erik Wollo)

Then the more general electronic music, the serious and exclusive styles:
http://cdbaby.com/cd/skjohansen1
http://cdbaby.com/cd/skjohansen2
http://cdbaby.com/cd/karstenbrustad2

And finally, electronic music with an ethnic and tribal twist:
http://cdbaby.com/cd/greenisacmusic1
http://cdbaby.com/cd/greenisacmusic2
http://cdbaby.com/cd/eyemanreel

You can also learn more about Origo Sound at
http://www.myspace.com/origosound

And for special offers, label news and artist discussions, consider signing
up for the new Yahoogroup:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/origosound or
origosound-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

That mailing list is also the place to be if you are a musician looking for a record deal, because Origo Sound is looking for new albums to release in 2008, and we are also branching out with a new sublabel, exploring the more popular electronic music in the vein of Vangelis, Tangerine Dream, Jarre and Kraftwerk.

That is a good question. The contract with Nemesis is supposed to be valid, but the paperwork happened a couple of years before my time, so I am not sure of the details. Nemesis decided to release an alternate version for download, but we do have the original master here and are looking into releasing it physically, either in the fall or next year.

In fact, Nemesis himself told me we could release it if we want, so it's a good possibility it will happen.

PostPosted: Wed May 05, 2010 10:04 pm    Free Origo Sound album Reply with quoteBack to top

Hey gang,

This year, Origo Sound is celebrating its 20th anniversary, which means it is Norway's longest running electronic music record label. An essay by Dag Blomberg about the label and its history can be read at http://posnip.com/a/775

To celebrate the anniversary, Origo Sound will this year be giving away complete albums when you buy certain albums as downloads. First out is Karsten Brustad's Cape West (http://posnip.com/i/189) which is given to you as a download when you buy Brustad's Intarsia (http://posnip.com/i/2674).

Intarsia is a mosaique of sampled nature sounds and gentle, ambient electronic music, cleverly crafted by the hands of contemporary composer Karsten Brustad. Cape West takes you from the tranquil moments of the morning mist to stormy patches. Exquisite tone colours are blended with sound samples to form a truly unique musical experience. Cape West is music with a view!

Thanks for joining the birthday party! Smile

They have only released 5 albums in the last decade though, after about 20 in the 90s. Let's hope the pace picks up somewhat...
