Waldorf ... Back from the dead

As a Waldorf user, I was very excited to hear that Waldorf was returning from the dead when Mr. Flor purchased the rights to the Waldorf name. Then rumours quickly began circulating that the new Waldorf will no longer support the synthesizers that made Waldorf what they were, the best inovative synth company on the planet. Out of desperation, the once loyal Waldorf synth owners pledged they would be willing to pay for their support when others said the new Waldorf had no legal obligation to those once loyal Waldorf synth owners.

We really won't know how this will unfold until the new Waldorf team releases their new line of synthesizers, the Blofeld and the Stromberg later this year.

I have the feeling that even though they have no legal obligation, they will do the right thing and take care of some unfinished bug fixes and upgrades that the old Waldorf team promised 3 years ago.

All we can do is wait and keep our fingers crossed.

Hello Steve,

please remember, that the new Waldorf bought the rights of the new names and not the right to use the old source code (yet).
So we have to wait till the new Waldorf also buy the rights on the source code from the insolvency manager.

So it might take some time till the new Waldorf Music is able to do good things for the alreaddy existing custumors of the original Waldorf Music company.

Thanks Till for your input ... as a fellow Waldorfian you know I am well aware of the situation via the User Forum.

My post says we must all wait and see what the future brings us and this is all we can do but crossing our fingers can't hurt except for the times we need to uncross them in order to turn those knobs!

There is just one important thing among any rumours: the legend is back !
In my humble opinion no one has better filters than Waldorf today :)

Anyone know if they're releasing the other stuff--Stromberg, Blofeld, et al.--anytime soon? I see the Phoenix Micro Q is on overstock sale...

The Stromberg is only a design study yet. It is not started as a project. Waldorf is a small company with one developer for DSP, one for UI and one for housing etc.
So the Blofeld first needs to get ready before new things start.

And I am sure the new Waldorf company first need to gain some money from one developing unit (Blofeld) before investing more on a second product. The sale of the Phoenix Edition won't pay them for 10 month developing they did in the last 10 months.

My guess is, that the Blofeld will be on sale in December.
