I only have "Mysterious Traveller", and I quite like it. For some reason I haven't tried to get my hands on any other albums. Any recommendations?

Mysterious Traveller is quite similar to Mahavishnu Orchestra. One thinks that 'aha, this is fusion from the 70's' after hearing the first couple of bars of Nubian Sundance.

I really don't know Weather Report, but I like Joe Zawinul's guest playing on the 1997 Deep Forest album Comparsa.

Thanks, I just listened through the MT after a while and I'm afraid this means a yet another visit to the record store...

I love the early stuff (ie before Jaco) - the real heavy fusion stuff picking up where Miles left off. "Sweetnighter" is well worth investigating as is "I Sing the Body Electric" - not as smooth as Jaco era Weather Report but so much more inventive.

That said, I do like "Birdland" and "A Remark You Made"
