Please take the time to read the following post and offer some opinions if possible.

If Wind and Wire were to come back online, it would be as an ambient/electronica site only review site (no new age or world fusion). Reviews would be shorter than in the past, probably more critical (meaning even

Bill

I say leave it at windandwire.com

Yes on ambient/electronic only site

I dont think an official publication down the road would be successful, seems the internet is a good way to read instead of snail mail.

Bill, i have seen Wind and Wire with the reviews, it is and was a good thing, really think you should keep it going in this small genre of music.

I agree on this. Please NO blog or Myspace kind of thing. I thought that's for (wanna-be) celebs. I never read the Wind and Wire stuff because I didn't know that it existed (sorry Bill).

I prefer a simple and clear website which loads fast like www.sonicimmersion.org or Artemi's encyclopedia for example.

just had a look at the archives, some nice reviews are there.
I love reviews as artist but also as consumer.
Even when a review is saying an album is "bad" can means that I would like it 😉

it is a good way to find some new stuff.

The way how to do, well keep it simple, with links to the reviews, not to much on the first page.
When you use a blog a reader must scroll to much to find the review, clicking a link is easier.

Hi Bill,

I think it would be very nice if you would (re)start reviewing on a regular basis on your website, as I still care & like to read someone elses opinion and views on electronic music.
The fact you say you willalso critique when appropriate makes it even more interesting to me, if you know what I mean;
If you would start, don't do it as a blog but on the webpage.

Good luck making up your mind on all this.

With the cost of living going through the roof. The more positive comments or negative comments on a cd, the better. ;)

Blogs are a very easy way to get info 'out there' (promotion is another thing)...they're very easy to update and to add content to. But...I would say that as I have one. Personally I think every fan of EM should have one, so they can all be linked together

My thoughts:

1. make a simple and easy-to-navigate website with maybe an advanced search engine attached to it.
2. make sure older reviews are easy to find inside the archive (i.e. alphabetically sorted and maybe options to sort reviews in different ways depending on the labels, columns you have used in the archive)
3. then set up a free mailinglist (through Bravenet or Yahoo) to which people can subscribe through which you notify people that your site has been updated. Include in the message what reviews have been posted and of course the link to the site (no direct links to reviews)
4. Go for a very regular (maybe even weekly) update schedule if you have enough content so that people know that for instance every wednesday there is a Wind And Wire update.
5. Maybe think about trying to recruite some more reviewers you can cover more ground and have more content to present.

These are all points that I have used when we set up a website (in Dutch) called ProgWereld (focusing on progressive rock). We now have a team 15 writers and a steady stream of 7 to 8 new reviews plus every now and then a whole bunch of classic albums being reviewed. We have an average of 60,000 visitors per month.
