Not really into my preferences. His music doesn't really tell me anything. Beside that he is sometimes more famous about is private life than about his work.

you are right - but when I bought the his first two albums in the early eighties nobody knew who Yanni was therefore his private life was not interesting ;-)

I liked the first two Private-Music releases too. But I haven't heard a full track of his music for ages.

I like the following albums:

- Out of Silence
- Chameleon Days
- Live at the Akropolis (his best) - love the orchestra.

considered to be new age ?

Like his two first albums

I haven't listened to everything by him but I have heard about 4 of his albums plus varioys tracks off of his others.

I feel that his earlier albums were New Age but some of his later material had a more "adult contemporary" sound and feel to them. His sound shifted around the same time Vangelis' sound got more "easy listening". TD too to some extent.

Yanni sure has a knack for composer music that sells. He also puts some money into his live shows. Audiences to seem to appreciate that.

I don't understand why some people are so against him. If so many people enjoy your music, what more can you wish.

I have to admit I rather like his music in short bursts - it can get a littel saccharine in large doses. He's a good melodic player. Piano seems to be his forte for me - the synth stuff seems a bit "by numbers" without the passion he can demonstrate in solo piano.
